Electoral College Votes And State Educational Rankings
My friend Ande Bordages Pace is smart and does smart things.
So for fun, because I do things like this, I crossreferenced this chart of the electoral college http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2012/romney-vs-obama-electoral-map with this ranking of state education standards for math and science http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/11/state-education-rankings-_n_894528.html and came up with this not so surprising data. When I’m not sure what to do, I usually try to find someone smarter than me to ask. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida use the same good sense.
Note, this isn’t saying our republican friends are dumb. Not at all. Remember, a huge portion of people can’t be accounted for in this graphic because of the number of eligible voters who don’t vote. Of course, that’s not really a good thing either. This is simply pointing out interesting parallels between voting patterns and state education rankings.
