ComiXology Suspends Offer For 700 Free Marvel Comics
The past few days have busy for ComiXology thanks to different developments at SXSW. In fact, it seems like they’ve been a bit too busy for the company to handle. First, ComiXology announced a new Submit program for aspiring comic book creators to self-publish through its platform. Then,…
There’s one part of me that’s like:
You should do your work, and then you wouldn’t be so stressed, and you would feel a great sense of accomplishment, and you’d have free time when you’re finished.
But then there’s this other part of me that’s like:
They both make such good arguments.
I’m covering SXSW for Techcitement and this is exactly how I feel after four days.
SXSW: Opening Remarks From Bre Pettis, From The Future
Festival goers have packed the Austin Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall 5, waiting for the official kick off to SXSW Interactive when Director Hugh Forrest makes his first appearance. When Forrest does take the stage, he claims the rain currently drizzling on Austin is a geek innovation….
SXSW: SENSITIVE HULK GET MAD AT PUNY MARVEL OVER PROJECT GAMMA!
Techcitement learned of Marvel’s upcoming Project Gamma announcement at SXSW and knew this would be a perfect topic for Sensitive Hulk to discuss. IS OKAY, HULK HAVE SPOT OF DUST IN HIS EYE. HULK NOT CRYBABY. HULK SENSITIVE, NOT WUSS. SOMETIME HULK JUST GET MAD AT PR INDUSTRY. HULK…
SENSITIVE HULK SMASH BAD MARKETING DECISIONS.
Domino’s Pizza + Singing Anime Character = Hypnotically Awkward Video
Normally, we at Techcitement blanch at the thought of publicizing a company’s obvious attempt at viral-video marketing, but sometimes the stars align to make the perfect mix of humor, marketing, and startled disbelief. Such is the case with this beautifully odd video from the best terrible…
So odd. Can’t look away. Can’t look away. So odd. Can’t look away.
Pre-SXSW: Marvel Comics Is A Big Tease For SXSW Interactive
What exactly is Marvel planning for SXSW 2013? For the last few weeks, the entertainment giant has been hinting at a mysterious first it plans to announce at the festival. Last year, saw the release of Marvel ReEvolution during the SXSW Interactive’s ScreenBurn Arcade (now simply called SXSW…
Smashing together two of my obsessions, comic books and Techcitement.
Oh God, This Robot Can Fling Cinderblocks At You
A little under a year ago, Techcitement published a list of murderous robots, partially because the Powers That Be here wanted to protect the future of humanity from the mechanical hordes. People mostly laughed at the aforementioned list. Robotic research think tank Boston Dynamics, who we…
And in today’s frightening news, we have this beast.
Man’s Life Falls Apart Because Of Viral Video
No one is going to argue against the notion that hockey is a rough sport. Movies have been made highlighting the violence inherent in the game for decades. Most recently, the critical darling Goon, starring Sean William Scott and Liev Schreiber, takes its place along other memorable movies about…
There’s a whole other conversation that can be had here about depression, medical treatment, and acceptance of depression as a legitimate sickness.
Creators, both of the tangible and intangible kind, construct some of the most appealing and memorable robots out of a mixture of ideas from the past, present, and future. That exact idea is what led product and toy designer Marco Fernandes to create R³bots.
The R³bots project began as an idea for a stop-motion short movie and has transformed into real-life, blinking, articulated, and simple metal masterpiece.
I want all of these.
During his “We Saw Your Boobs” song Seth MacFarlane listed off women who’s breasts he’d seen in their movies. As if this isn’t grotesque enough four of the instances he listed were scenes of rape or the character was raped during the movie.
- Hilary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry.
- Jodie Foster in The Accused.
- Jessica Chastain in Lawless.
- Charlize Theron in Monster.
Fucking disgusting. I really don’t give a shit about the Oscar’s but this is like……….. are you serious?
This was a planned bit, so the shock and mortification those actresses show is fake. Also, it was a bit meant to fail, which is why it was introduced by Old Captain Kirk (William Shatner) showing MacFarlane videos of bits that were going to fail. It and the sentiment attached to it was supposed to be reprehensible, which is why MacFarlane chose to “skip it”. I’m not saying there weren’t offensive moments during the show or that this can’t be one of those bits, but it’s not just a bunch of boob jokes and offended actresses. Plus, these actresses are all known for being confident and outspoken, but they still agreed to appear in this pre-taped montage. So, they probably understood what was happening.
This has always confused me.
The 100 % Juice Cranberry has cranberry, grape, apple, and pear juices along with other natural flavors.
Cranberry Juice Cocktail only has cranberry juice.
How can this be true? I bet someone mixed up the labels when the first batch went out and Ocean Spray has been faking it ever since so it wouldn’t have to admit the mistake.
